Hey Nancy,
ANC 15 is me, I just now realized I hadn't signed my name yet! I'm still confused on how they could be born in two different locations...can you clarify what you meant? I'd love to get any information possible on the family, as I have a reunion this weekend and want to have a lot of information for them! Thanks again!
James

Hi, James! It's good to hear from you. I didn't realize who you were. Of course, Zachary/Zachariah was not born in two different places. I believe the info that your Zachary was born in Wilkinson Co GA is an error. I was also wrong when I said he was born in Anson Co NC. He lived in Anson Co, but I believe he was probably born in Orange/Spotsylvania Co VA, because his father William Phillips did not move from Orange/Spotsylvania Co until about 1745 when Zachary/Zachariah was probably about 10 or 15 years old. I will get my files together and send them to you for the reunion. You will have lots of interesting info to disperse!

Great! What info do you need to send it to me? I think you have my email address, just want to make sure though. Also, do we know when/why/who came over to the states and from where?

Yes, I have your email address and I will try to get everything to you this afternoon. We suspect our Phillips line came from England in the mid-1600s during the English Civil War. We have a DNA match with a British man who traces his Phillips line back to Birmingham England in the early 1700s. He wrote an article that appears in this month's newsletter which might be of interest for distribution at the reunion. Note that you can download the newsletter in PDF format and print it out. Our Phillips yDNA also matches the yDNA of some 3000 year old skeletons that were found in a cave in Germany. When you put all this together, it looks like our Phillips line is very Anglo-Saxon.

Hey Nancy,
I have a question about Zachariah Phillips- the literature you sent me says that he was from North Carolina, but we have him down as from Virginia. Did he just stop over in North Carolina on the way to Georgia? That's the only way I can believe both. Thanks for your help!
James

Yes, James, I misspoke when I said Zachariah was probably born in NC. I believe Zachariah was probably born in Orange County VA around 1730-1735 and moved to Anson County NC with his probable father William Phillips around 1745 to 1750. Around 1773, Zachariah and his probable brother Joel appear to have moved down to the part of Georgia that later became Wilkes County. Sorry for the mistake.
